Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is nearing a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Pro Football Talk. Rodgers met with the Steelers last week after it became clear he wouldn’t sign with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Steelers had contract parameters ready for Rodgers “for weeks,” but negotiations are in his hands. The team has been pursuing him as their starter for 2025 alongside the New York Giants.
A 41-year-old quarterback, Rodgers was a first-round pick in 2005 and signed a four-year extension with $134 million guaranteed in 2018. He also had a three-year deal with $150 million guaranteed from 2022 to 2024 before being traded to the Jets.
After playing just one game for the Jets due to injury, Rodgers bounced back in 2024, starting all 17 games and throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He is now included on NFL Trade Rumors’ Top 100 Available 2025 Free Agents list.
