Aaron Rodgers Released by Jets

Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be released by the New York Jets after being designated as a post-June 1 cut. The move saves the Jets $7 million but leaves them with a significant $49 million overall dead money charge, including a $35 million dead cap hit in 2026.

Despite this, there are still many talented players available on the market. Rodgers is currently ranked second behind tackle Mekhi Becton as the top free agent remaining. One of the other notable players, 26-year-old Uche, played for both the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs last season, recording 23 total tackles.

Other news includes quarterback Mason Rudolph re-signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers on a two-year deal worth $8 million, while center David Andrews was released by the New England Patriots. Wide receiver Adam Thielen has restructured his contract to stay with the Carolina Panthers, and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson signed a two-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

The San Francisco 49ers have also added quarterback Mac Jones on a two-year deal worth $7 million, while Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams returned to the team on a one-year deal. The Pittsburgh Steelers are also making moves, signing cornerback Darius Slay to a fully guaranteed $10 million deal and defensive tackle Maliek Collins on a two-year contract.

Finally, tight end Evan Engram signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos worth $23 million, with $16.5 million guaranteed. These signings demonstrate that there is still significant activity in free agency, despite Rodgers’ departure from the Jets.
