Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ future with the New York Jets appears uncertain after a report from FOX Sports claimed that the team is “moving on” from him. The news comes just days after Rodgers met with the Jets about his future with the team, only to be informed that he will no longer be considered for the starting role.
Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who joined the Jets as head coach, has reportedly made it clear that Rodgers is not part of their plans. This decision leaves the Jets without a clear quarterback contender, as journeyman vet Tyrod Taylor and rookie Jordan Travis are expected to vie for the spot in free agency and the upcoming draft.
Glenn’s departure from the Packers, where he orchestrated a memorable postseason performance against Rodgers’ team in 2022, suggests that the new Jets coach is not interested in keeping the veteran quarterback on board. As a result, it appears that Rodgers will be released with a June 1 designation, allowing him to sign with any other team in the league.
