Acclaimed screenwriter and director Aaron Sorkin is set to helm a sequel to his 2010 film “The Social Network”, which told the story of Facebook’s early days. The new movie, inspired by a series of articles on the harms caused by social media, has been in development for over a decade.
Sorkin had previously expressed interest in writing and directing a potential sequel, citing concerns about Facebook’s role in the 2021 US Capitol riots. He believes that the company prioritizes growth over integrity, with profits often taking precedence over ethics.
The new film will be produced by Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin, and Stuart Besser, and it remains unclear if Jesse Eisenberg, who played Mark Zuckerberg in the original, will reprise his role in the sequel.
