Aarthi Ramamurthy, a former Meta and Netflix engineer, has unveiled her own venture capital firm, Schema Ventures, at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women International Summit in Riyadh. The $20 million first fund will focus on early-stage investments in developer tools and back-end infrastructure software.
As an outsider turned insider, Ramamurthy aims to bridge the gap between VC firms and founders. She has personal experience navigating Silicon Valley without connections or access, relying on her skills to “figure it out as I went.” Now, she seeks to identify contrarian founders who are addressing genuine problems in their industries.
Schema’s Limited Partners (LPs) include prominent Silicon Valley names such as Marc Andreessen and Gokul Rajaram. The firm will write collaborative checks and invest in companies like Cosmic Robotics, Confido Health, and Powerhouse.
Ramamurthy emphasizes her unique approach: “I look for founders who are doing something that’s a personal problem for them, not just following the hype cycle.” This focus on identifying genuine solutions sets Schema Ventures apart from other VC firms.
