ABC is giving early admission to its 2025-26 schedule by renewing the Emmy-winning comedy series Abbott Elementary. The show, created and starred by Quinta Brunson, has already secured a spot on the network’s upcoming schedule. This marks the fifth season of the popular series.
The renewal comes as the show’s fourth season is underway and follows its most-watched episode to date. The January 8 crossover episode with FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia drew an impressive 8.05 million viewers, making it the season high for Abbott Elementary. Approximately 39% of those viewers watched on Hulu or Disney+, further indicating the show’s growing popularity.
The series has consistently recorded strong audiences since its time slot change to Wednesday at 8:30 PM. The latest episode aired with two of its largest same-day audiences so far this season, according to Nielsen.
The early renewal is a testament to Abbott Elementary’s success, as it has scored pickups well ahead of the traditional upfronts in each of its previous seasons. Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television produce the show, along with executive producers Quinta Brunson, Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Randall Einhorn, and Brian Rubenstein.
