Aces coach Becky Hammon was brutal in her assessment of her team’s 81-54 loss to Indiana Fever on Thursday. Describing their performance as a “complete lack of professionalism,” Hammon stated that they were outplayed by the Fever, who were without star Caitlin Clark due to injury.
Hammon criticized the Aces’ offense, calling it the “worst I’ve ever seen” in her four years with the team. The Aces shot just 26.2 percent from the field and struggled on both ends of the court. A’ja Wilson’s 29 points were not enough to lead the team to victory.
The coach also took aim at the team’s defense, stating that they allowed Indiana to score downhill layups all night. Hammon emphasized that her team needs to step up their physicality and match the Fever’s toughness if they want to compete.
The loss marked a significant turnaround for the Fever, who snapped a 16-game losing streak against the Aces. The Aces now face a tough stretch of games before the All-Star Break, including road trips to the Sun, Liberty, and Mystics, as well as a home game against the Valkyries.
