Six years after his passing, comedian Adam Sandler has paid tribute to late co-star and friend Cameron Boyce in his latest movie, Happy Gilmore 2. A scene from the film features Boyce’s image playing on a TV screen during one of the golf matches. The tribute is a nod to their past collaboration in Grown Ups.
In 2020, Sandler had already paid homage to Boyce in his Netflix comedy Hubie Halloween. The movie featured a dedication to Boyce, who was supposed to appear in it before his death from epilepsy at age 20. His family has since established the Cameron Boyce Foundation to fund research and awareness campaigns for epilepsy.
Boyce’s talent and kindness were celebrated by fans and loved ones alike. Although some may not have appreciated Sandler’s latest film, many fans are appreciative of the subtle tribute to Boyce, showing that the actor still holds him in high regard.
