A sequel to the 1996 golf comedy film Happy Gilmore is finally hitting Netflix. The film, which stars Adam Sandler and co-star Julie Bowen, has been nearly three decades in the making. Bowen had assumed she wouldn’t be returning for the role of Virginia Venit, but was surprised when the news came through.
The official trailer was released at Netflix’s Tudum event on Saturday, featuring a star-studded cast including Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, and Eminem. Bowen jokingly said she was offended by Sandler’s character in the new film, which appears to be a nod to his original character.
The sequel, titled Happy Gilmore 2, will premiere on Netflix on July 25.
