Renowned composer David Lang has set the 1,000-page magnum opus “The Wealth of Nations” by Adam Smith to music in an 18-part two-hour oratorio. The work premiered at the New York Philharmonic, marking a unique artistic interpretation of the Scottish economist’s influential book.
Adam Smith, often associated with economics, has now found his way into the world of arts, thanks to the collaborations of actor Brian Cox and playwright James Graham in their play “Make It Happen.” Lang’s latest project is another example of how an artistically significant work can transcend its genre.
