Adobe has announced new Photoshop apps for the web and for iPhone, with plans to expand to Android “soon”. The move marks a significant shift in the photo-editing app’s availability, as it was previously only available on desktop platforms.
The new web app will offer a simplified experience, allowing users to access Photoshop without downloading it. The app will also be part of the “Photoshop Mobile & Web plan”, which includes features such as layer effects, Quick Actions, and generative AI tools. The free version on iPhone will support various edits and save files in PSD format.
Key features of the web app include:
* Combining, compositing, and blending images with core Photoshop tools
* Removing or replacing parts of an image using the Tap Select tool
* Brushing away spots with advanced removal tools
* Using generative AI tools for complex edits
* Editing with flexibility, including non-destructive layers and selective adjustments
The “Photoshop Mobile & Web plan” is available separately or as part of all Creative Cloud memberships. Photoshop for iPhone is now available for download via the App Store, with Android availability coming “soon”. Sign up for updates on Android here.
Note: Android availability will be in beta form initially, with signups currently available.
