Adobe has released its first dedicated artificial intelligence smartphone app, Firefly, which includes AI models from the company and partner firms. The app is available on iOS and Android phones and offers unlimited basic image generation with a subscription starting at $10 per month.
The new service packages Adobe’s own AI model with OpenAI and Google models, as well as those from partners Ideogram, Luma AI, Pika, and Runway. Users can access these partner models through Firefly Boards, a product part of the Firefly web app.
Generating images that can easily be shared on social media has become a key driver of AI interest, with OpenAI’s Ghibli-style AI images driving record traffic to the ChatGPT creator. Adobe aims to capitalize on this trend by offering subscribers access to its premium models and those from partners at an additional cost.
Adobe’s approach, which promises users protection against copyright claims and training on material it has a legal right to use, has gained resonance among consumers. The company’s chief technology officer said the promise of commercial safety and transparency is a differentiator for the service.
