Adrien Brody has won his second Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist.” He beat out a talented cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan.
Brody, who is the youngest person to win the Oscar at 29 in 2003 for his lead role in “The Pianist,” gave a heartfelt speech during his acceptance. He thanked the Academy and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue doing work he loves.
For Brody, winning this award marks a chance to begin again and prove himself worthy of meaningful roles. The actor has two Oscars for playing characters who survived the Holocaust, highlighting his commitment to representing the lingering traumas of war and oppression.
“The Brutalist” is a three-and-a-half-hour epic that tells the story of László Tóth, a Hungarian architect who escapes to the United States and eventually begins working on an ambitious project. The film scored 10 Oscar nominations and won three, including Best Actor for Brody’s powerful performance.
Brody joins an elite group of actors who have won the Academy Award twice, including Spencer Tracy, Jack Nicholson, Marlon Brando, Dustin Hoffman, Gary Cooper, Tom Hanks, Fredric March, Sean Penn, and Anthony Hopkins.
