Affordable Travel Deals Abound on Cyber Monday and Beyond

Travel Tuesday has become a significant shopping event for travelers seeking deals on flights, cruises, tours, and accommodations. A recent report by McKinsey & Company found that bookings spiked on Travel Tuesday 2023, with airline purchases increasing by over 60% and cruise bookings jumping by 50%. This year’s sales season has seen hundreds of promotions, offering discounts on various travel options.

Airline deals are particularly attractive, with TAP Air Portugal offering a sale that includes round-trip flights from the US to Europe for $499. Similarly, United Airlines is promoting a sale featuring discounted fares from New York to London starting at $399.

For those interested in cruises, several lines are offering special promotions. St. Hilda Sea Adventures is taking up to 20% off departures in April and May, while Victory Cruise Lines is launching a pair of boats operating between Chicago and Toronto in spring with nine-night trips starting at $5,799 per person.

Hotel deals are also plentiful, with major brands like Marriott, IHG, and Hyatt offering discounts tied to loyalty program membership. Urban options include the 33 Hotel in New York City, which is discounted by 40% through December 3, and the new Korean-owned L7 Chicago by LOTTE, which has rooms discounted by 30% through December 8.

In addition to these deals, attractions and day-trip operators are offering sales that can help travelers plan activities at a discount. Traveling Spoon, an Airbnb-style platform, is offering 15% off experiences in 70 countries. ArcheoRunning is promoting a sale featuring running tours of Rome, with private groups getting a 75-minute running tour and a four-hour walking tour for 390 euros (about $415) or 35% off.
