A top executive at OpenAI predicts that 2025 will mark a significant milestone in artificial intelligence development. According to Kevin Weil, the company’s product chief, AI agents are on the verge of being able to complete tasks in the real world.
Weil believes that advanced reasoning skills and improved ability to engage with humans will be key to achieving this goal. He predicts that AI agents will soon be able to perform routine tasks such as filling out forms or making restaurant reservations.
To address concerns about job displacement, Weil encourages people to experiment with AI tools, which he says will provide a better understanding of the impact on daily life and workplaces. This, in turn, will enable workers to participate in the changes brought by AI.
Meanwhile, rumors are circulating that OpenAI is set to announce a major breakthrough in generative AI models, potentially unleashing Ph.D.-level super-agents capable of complex human tasks. The company’s CEO, Sam Altman, has scheduled a closed-door briefing for U.S. government officials on January 30.
