AI Browser Comet to Automate Key White-Collar Roles

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas predicts that his company’s new AI-native browser, Comet, will automate key white-collar roles such as recruiting and administrative assistance.

Comet links to Gmail and LinkedIn to generate candidate lists, pull contact information, and send personalized outreach emails. The browser’s built-in AI agent can also take over tasks typically handled by executive assistants, including email triage, calendar management, and meeting prep.

Srinivas believes Comet will evolve into an AI operating system for white-collar workers, continuously running tasks in the background and executing commands from natural language prompts.

Tech leaders are split on whether AI will replace or reinvent white-collar jobs. While some, like Perplexity’s CEO, predict significant disruption, others, such as Salesforce’s CEO Marc Benioff, frame AI as an augmentation tool.

As Comet rolls out to premium users, Srinivas warns that workers must adapt to AI-driven changes to remain employable. “People who are at the frontier of using AI will be way more employable than people who are not,” he said.

The future of work is increasingly shaped by AI, with companies like Amazon and Nvidia issuing similar warnings about the need for workforce adaptation. As Comet continues to develop, its potential impact on white-collar jobs will be closely watched.
