Google’s new AI video generator, Veo 3, has been used to create a highly unconventional advertisement for Kalshi, a market where users can place real-money trades on real-world events. The ad features shirtless elderly gentlemen, floating farmers, aliens, and other bizarre characters, all generated using AI.
According to PJ Ace, the filmmaker behind the commercial, it took only $2,000 and two days to create. The ad aired during the NBA Finals, with AI-generated characters reacting to the game’s outcome. Kalshi confirmed that Veo 3 was used in its creation, a tool that supports both video and audio generation.
The company’s decision to experiment with AI-generated ads came after production companies quoted six-figure prices with timelines that didn’t fit their needs. The result is an eye-catching ad that showcases the potential of AI in advertising. Meta plans to fully automate ad creation by next year, citing Veo 3 as a key tool in this endeavor.
Ace used a combination of his script, brainstorming help from language models like Gemini and ChatGPT, and prompting with Veo 3 to create the commercial. It took around 300-400 generations to produce 15 usable clips, resulting in a final product that he claims is 95% cheaper than traditional ads.
While some brands may still prefer high-quality ads, Ace believes that AI-generated content will become increasingly popular due to its affordability and effectiveness. With the rise of Veo 3 and other AI tools, small teams can create viral, brand-adjacent content at a lower cost, achieving impressive results with minimal investment.
