AI-Driven Scams Target Gmail Users Warns FBI

The FBI is warning Gmail users about AI-driven scams targeting those who use the email service. According to recent reports, scammers are using AI technology to impersonate a real person and claim to represent Google’s customer support.

These “sophisticated” scams involve making fake calls that appear to be from Google, complete with caller ID spoofing. Shortly after receiving a suspicious call, Gmail users receive an email that looks like it came from the company, warning them that someone is trying to hack their account overseas.

The FBI advises Gmail users to protect their login information and passwords. Fortunately, these users can safeguard their accounts using various tools provided by Google, including passkeys and smart keys.
