Fraud experts warn that artificial intelligence is making it increasingly difficult to detect and prevent scams in the Cleveland area.
According to Ericka Dilworth, a representative from the BBB in Cleveland, scammers are using AI to create more convincing phone calls, emails, and text messages. This makes it harder for victims to determine whether a message is genuine or not.
Dilworth notes that AI-powered scammers can craft messages without spelling errors or grammar issues, making them appear more legitimate. As a result, it’s becoming increasingly challenging for authorities to track down these scams.
If you suspect you’ve fallen victim to an AI scam, report it to the BBB, FTC, and FBI. Additionally, contact your bank and credit bureaus if you believe your information has been compromised.
