AI-Generated Ad Aired During NBA Finals Game

A sports betting marketplace, Kalshi, aired a bizarre ad during Game 3 of the NBA Finals, featuring surreal scenes generated by an AI filmmaker using Google’s Veo 3 video generator and Gemini chatbot.

The 30-second commercial, titled “The world’s gone mad, trade it,” showcased chaotic scenes such as a farmer floating in eggs, an alien chugging beer, and an older man dressed in an American flag, screaming for his favorite team to win.

Kalshi hired self-described AI filmmaker PJ Accetturo to create the ad, which was made possible by Veo 3’s capabilities. The project cost around $2,000 and took three days from conception to completion.

Accetturo used Google’s Gemini chatbot to generate a shot list and prompts for the video, while Veo 3 handled the actual video production. He stated that he got paid very well for the project and now earns more as an AI director than he did for live-action contracts.

The ad has gained significant attention and is set to reach 20 million impressions across mediums. Kalshi plans to experiment with AI-generated content in future projects, citing its cost-effectiveness and ability to produce high-quality ads within a short timeline.
