AI Model Aurora Surprises with Photorealistic Images

Elon Musk’s new image generator model, Aurora, has generated excitement among users on his platform X after making a surprise appearance in the wild. For a few hours on Saturday, some users reported having access to the more photorealistic Aurora, which appears to rival its predecessor and competitors.

Aurora, powered by Musk’s artificial intelligence model Grok, is still not widely released but seems to have few creative limitations, generating images of copyrighted characters like Mickey Mouse and public figures. The model’s beta version has been tested, and it appears to stop short of creating violent or explicit content.

Users shared their impressions of Aurora’s creations online, praising their quality and realism. However, some images showed evidence of AI-generated features, such as unusual proportions in the arms and hands. Despite this, experts seem to be impressed with the model’s capabilities, with one AI startup founder calling it “one of the best image models” available.

Elon Musk himself replied to a post from the founder, saying that the model is still in its beta phase but will improve rapidly. Representatives for X did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider.
