AI-Powered Search Results Page Launched by Google

Google has launched Web Guide, an experimental search results page that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to organize search results in a more intuitive way. This new feature groups related web links together, making it easier for users to find information on specific topics.

Web Guide uses a custom version of Gemini, an AI model, to better understand search queries and content on the web. It also employs a query fan-out technique, which involves issuing multiple related searches concurrently to identify the most relevant results.

Users can try Web Guide with open-ended searches like “how to solo travel in Japan” or detailed queries in multiple sentences, such as “My family is spread across multiple time zones. What are the best tools for staying connected and maintaining close relationships despite the distance?”

For now, Web Guide is available in the Search Labs tab on Google’s search engine, where users can opt-in to access it. Over time, it may be rolled out to other parts of the search interface, including the “All” results tab.
