AI-powered code review startup Greptile is raising a Series A funding round valued at $180 million, with lead investor Benchmark partner Eric Vishria. The company, founded by Dasksh Gupta after graduating from Georgia Tech in 2023, has raised $4 million in seed funding and went through Y Combinator’s winter cohort program.
Greptile aims to provide an experienced coworker-like AI bot that can identify bugs and issues in code, a challenging task for human reviewers. The company is competing with Graphite and Coderabbit, which have also received significant funding.
Despite the high demand for its service, Greptile requires its staff to work long hours, often exceeding 12 hours a day, including weekends. Gupta believes that outperforming competitors demands maximum effort from team members, but this has raised concerns about work-life balance.
The recent funding round has attracted attention from tech and VC heavyweights, including Netflix, ElevenLabs, Wayve, and Sequoia Capital. The company’s valuation is expected to drive growth and sharpen its edge in the competitive code review market.
