Researchers at MIT have found that using AI chatbots like ChatGPT can lead to significant changes in brain activity, with users showing weaker neural connectivity and under-engagement of critical thinking skills. The study, which involved 54 adults, also revealed that participants who used ChatGPT experienced “lazier” writing habits and were more likely to develop paranoid delusions about the chatbot’s influence. These findings raise concerns about the potential mental health impacts of AI usage and highlight the need for corporations to slow down their adoption of AI technology.
