Air India Plane Crash Kills 241 People Aboard

An Air India plane bound for London crashed in a residential area of Ahmedabad, killing 241 people on board and leaving one survivor. The plane, an Airbus A350 that was operated by Air India Flight 171, took off from the airport shortly after 6 am local time.

The crash happened in the northwestern city of Ahmedabad, where the plane crashed into a medical college hostel building, bursting into flames. The cause of the crash is not yet known, but it is believed to be linked to technical issues with the aircraft’s navigation system.

According to eyewitnesses, the plane took off and then suddenly began descending before splitting in two, throwing out survivors like a “human cannonball.” One passenger, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, was thrown from the plane and survived with multiple injuries.

Indian authorities confirmed that 229 passengers and 12 crew members were killed in the crash. The surviving single survivor is believed to be British national of Indian origin.

The aircraft’s flight data recorder will provide crucial information into what happened before the crash. Boeing has issued a statement saying it was “working to gather more information.”

The Indian government has promised support to the families and loved ones of those affected, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi offering condolences and calling the disaster “heartbreaking beyond words.”
