Air India Reduces International Services Amid Safety Concerns

Air India has announced a 15% reduction in its international services on widebody aircraft, starting June 20, due to safety concerns following the recent deadly plane crash that killed 246 people. The airline also cited ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East as a reason for the cutbacks.

The decision comes less than a week after an Air India airliner crashed into a building while en route to the UK, leaving behind one surviving passenger and 241 others dead. The incident has raised concerns about the airline’s safety record and led to increased scrutiny from authorities.

Air India has assured passengers that they can reschedule their flights at no additional cost or receive a full refund. The airline has also completed safety inspections on its 26 of its 33 Dreamliner aircraft, which are now cleared for service.

Additionally, Air India is performing “enhanced safety checks” on its Boeing 777 fleet as a precautionary measure. The airline is cooperating with authorities and taking steps to ensure the stability of its operations.

The reduction in services will affect flights operated by widebody aircraft, but no specific details have been provided on which routes or schedules will be impacted. Passengers are advised to check with their travel agents or the airline’s website for updates on flight schedules and availability.
