Airbnb is planning to expand its offerings beyond short-term rentals, aiming to become a one-stop shop for all travel and living needs. CEO Brian Chesky wants the company to be “one place you go” for various services, similar to Amazon.
The plan involves investing $200-250 million in new businesses and offerings on the Airbnb app, set to launch in May. This expansion aims to increase user frequency, currently averaging one or two uses per year, to a weekly basis.
Airbnb’s revenue grew 12% in the fourth quarter of 2024, reaching $2.48 billion, with annual revenue increasing by 12% to $11.10 billion. The company’s stock price rose over 14% in after-hours trading on Thursday.
