Airbnb Host Forbids Crypto-Mining After Guests Run Up $1,500 Bill

A popular Airbnb host, Ashley, has been forced to implement a new rule after guests left her house in a state that will leave you scratching your head. The unusual situation arose when the guests spent three weeks at Ashley’s property, hauling out at least ten computers and setting up an improvised electric vehicle charging station.

The main issue was not with the cleanliness or the review – which were both perfect – but with the electricity bill. It turned out that the guests had run up a whopping $1,500 electric bill during their stay. Ashley only discovered this when she received the bill later on.

After documenting the situation and providing evidence to Airbnb, the guests admitted to what they did and even revealed that they made over $100,000 in cryptocurrency during their three-week stay. This means it was actually cheaper for them to rent a house than pay the electricity bill alone.

As a result, Ashley has added “no crypto-mining” and “no electric vehicle charging” to her list of house rules for the property. It seems that some people will stop at nothing to get ahead in the world of cryptocurrency.
