Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming various aspects of our lives, but its effects on early childhood development remain poorly understood. This critical period, spanning from birth to age five, is pivotal for cognitive, emotional, and behavioral growth.
A recent half-day session co-hosted by UNICEF and the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative on October 31, 2024, shed light on the importance of exploring AI’s influence on early childhood development. The gathering aimed to harness AI’s potential in supporting young children’s growth while fostering collaboration among experts to address knowledge gaps.
By examining AI’s role in early childhood development, researchers and policymakers can develop informed strategies for promoting healthy growth and minimizing risks associated with AI exposure during this critical period.
