Akira Yamaoka Returns to Silent Hill f With Unsettling Soundtrack

Legendary series composer Akira Yamaoka is back in the booth for Silent Hill f, the upcoming Japan-set horror game from Konami. The game’s full trailer has been released, featuring some of the spookiest monsters in series history and a character reveal. Alongside the announcement, Konami revealed that Yamaoka will be working on the game’s music, bringing his extensive experience in crafting unsettling soundscapes.

In an interview, Yamaoka shared his vision for the game’s soundtrack, stating that he aimed to capture the “uncanny humidity” and “scent” of Japan. The composer emphasizes that this is what Silent Hill truly embodies, drawing inspiration from ancient Japan rather than modern settings. This approach reflects Yamaoka’s personal connection to Japanese culture, which he feels continues to influence his creative work.

Yamaoka joins an impressive A-list team, including acclaimed writer Ryukishi07 and composer Kensuke Inage. The game’s producer, Motoi Okamoto, is also behind the Silent Hill 2 Remake. With Yamaoka at the helm of its sound design, Silent Hill f promises to deliver a haunting experience that will resonate with fans worldwide.
