Rev. Al Sharpton has responded to President Donald Trump’s accusations that he was paid to endorse former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. During an interview with MSNBC, Sharpton denied the allegations, stating that he did not receive any payment for endorsing Harris.
Sharpton also expressed his support for Harris and criticized Trump’s record on race. He argued that Trump is trying to shift attention away from his own controversies, including his handling of Jeffrey Epstein and the Trump administration’s announcement that there was no client list.
The liberal MSNBC host also pointed out that FEC filings show the Harris campaign made two $500,000 payments to Oprah Winfrey’s production company, which was first reported by the Washington Examiner after the election. Sharpton argued that Trump is “swapping money” and trying to distract from his own issues with Russia.
Sharpton has previously criticized Trump and has spoken at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, where he called out the president’s record on race. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
