Alaska Airlines has launched a new development in its merger with Hawaiian Airlines, introducing reciprocal elite status matches between their loyalty programs. As of September 2024, Alaska Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles members can now match their elite status with each other.
Members who have reached certain levels of elite status on either airline will be eligible for matching. For example, Alaska MVP Gold status is equivalent to HawaiianMiles Pualani Platinum status, while HawaiianMiles Pualani Gold status is equivalent to Alaska MVP status.
To request a status match, members can log into their account online and follow the prompts. The process typically takes up to 72 hours for updates to be reflected in accounts, but most people report seeing matches within a few hours.
This development comes as part of the airlines’ efforts to integrate their operations ahead of the planned merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines into a single loyalty program by mid-2025. As part of this program, elite qualifying miles earned on both airlines will be combined for the purposes of elite status qualification.
For now, this reciprocal status match is an attractive benefit for Alaska elites who fly frequently on Hawaiian Airlines, as well as for those who have elite status with oneworld airlines through Alaska’s partnership with American Airlines.
