Discount grocery chain Aldi is set to expand its presence in the United States in the new year. With over 2,459 locations across 39 states and territories, Aldi has a strong foothold in the eastern half of the country. The German retailer recently acquired over 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets, significantly increasing its footprint.
Aldi’s expansion will add locations in several new states, including Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. These openings will bring the total number of Aldi stores to nearly 2,500 locations nationwide.
The chain is rebranding some of its Winn-Dixie stores as part of its expansion efforts, with all newly opened locations in Alabama being converted from existing Winn-Dixie stores. The list of upcoming Aldi openings includes various states and cities, with many locations set to open in the first month of the year.
Aldi’s expansion is expected to increase competition in the grocery market, particularly in states where it has recently entered. The discount retailer remains committed to offering affordable prices on its products, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious shoppers.
