Aldi Sells Winn-Dixie and Harveys to Private Investor Group

Aldi, the German discount grocer, has sold its Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket chains to a private investor group led by Southeastern Grocers CEO Anthony Hucker. The deal includes approximately 170 grocery stores and 170 liquor stores across the Southeast.

The new ownership group will take immediate control of the acquired stores, while Aldi plans to continue converting some of its Winn-Dixie and Harveys locations to its own format. This process is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The sale includes stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The new ownership group has committed to elevating and revolutionizing the customer experience and store offerings at these locations.

Southeastern Grocers, which was acquired by Aldi in 2024, will continue to operate its stores until they are converted to the Aldi format. C&S Wholesale Grocers, a longtime partner of Southeastern, will also assume control of the acquisition and provide value and quality to shoppers through its best-in-class capabilities.

CEO Anthony Hucker expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving communities and emphasized the company’s commitment to thoughtful, purpose-driven growth. CEO Eric Winn of C&S Wholesale Grocers stated that the consortium is committed to feeding their communities through their partnership and will leverage their capabilities to provide value and quality to shoppers.
