Alex Palou Wins Indianapolis 500 with Record-Breaking Viewership

Alex Palou made history by winning the first Indianapolis 500 of his career, drawing a record-breaking 7.05 million viewers, according to FOX Sports. The event surpassed its previous peak in 17 years, surpassing the 2008 Indy 500’s audience of 7.245 million. Viewership increased by 40% compared to last year’s race.

Palou, who started sixth on the second row, overcame challenging conditions, including persistent rain and caution flags, to claim his fifth win of the 2025 season. He passed Marcus Ericsson with 14 laps remaining and held off the rest of the pack to secure victory. Palou became the first Spaniard to win the Indy 500, a milestone that cemented his status as a top driver in the racing world.

The FOX broadcast marked the network’s first time covering the event, which was watched by a record-breaking audience.
