Alex Pereira Struggles to Make Weight for UFC 313

UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is facing a weight-cut challenge ahead of his title clash with Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 in Las Vegas. According to a video posted on Pereira’s social media, he weighed 227.5 pounds upon arrival, exceeding the official weigh-in limit by over 20 pounds.

For comparison, Jon Jones, the current UFC heavyweight champion and former light heavyweight king, weighed just 10 pounds more than Pereira when he last competed in November 2024. Pereira must make weight of 205 pounds on Friday morning to secure his title match.

The Brazilian fighter has previously revealed that he gains a significant amount of weight before competing, with some reports suggesting he can gain up to 20-25 pounds in just 24 hours. Despite this challenge, Pereira has maintained a flawless record in the UFC and is entering the cage for the first time in 2025 after an impressive year in 2024, featuring three knockout wins.
