Alexa+ Launches with Limited Features

Amazon’s AI-heavy virtual assistant upgrade, Alexa+, has officially launched but is missing a significant number of promised features. According to internal company documents reviewed by The Washington Post, many tools are still in development and won’t be available for two months or longer.

Delayed features include ordering takeout on Grubhub, identifying family members via camera, auto-generating stories for kids, brainstorming gift ideas, and ordering groceries. A browser-based version is also not yet available.

However, Alexa+ users can currently use the platform to order an Uber, identify objects, and draft emails. The service is included with Amazon Prime membership but requires a $20 monthly subscription for non-members. Availability is expanding over the coming weeks and months, and it’s currently only compatible with devices featuring screens, such as the Echo Show series.
