Algeria and Mali Block Flights Amid Drone Row

Algeria and Mali have closed their airspace to flights from each other after a drone was shot down near their shared border. The incident escalated tensions between the two countries, with Mali accusing Algeria of sponsoring terrorism. In response, Algeria banned flights to and from Mali and accused Mali of trying to divert attention away from its own failures. This is not the first time the two nations have clashed over security issues, as they have disputed allegations that Algeria provides shelter to Tuareg armed groups. The situation has raised concerns about regional stability in West Africa’s Sahel region.
