Tennis star and TV personality Allison Holker has found closure after discovering the dark secrets her late husband, step-dance champion Stephen “tWitch” Boss, was hiding. In his journals, Boss revealed he had been sexually abused as a child, which she only discovered while cleaning out their closet before his funeral.
Holker shared her experience in an interview with People, saying reading through his journals gave her a better understanding of the pain and struggles he faced. She described feeling a lot of empathy towards him and sadness for all the pain he was holding.
The discovery also revealed Boss’s secret struggle with addiction. Holker said it was “very alarming” but helped her find clarity after his passing. Her husband, who died by suicide in 2022 at age 40, was known for his appearances on So You Think You Can Dance and as the regular DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Holker reflected on their nine-year marriage, saying it was hard to put all the pieces together. She hopes that others struggling with similar issues will seek help and know they are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available through various helplines, including the 988 lifeline for crisis support and SAMHSA’s National Helpline for substance abuse assistance.
