The Hyderabad police have released a video presentation showing Telugu actor Allu Arjun refusing to leave the theatre where the premiere of his film Pushpa 2 was being held, even after he was informed that a woman had died in the chaos outside. The incident occurred on December 4, and Arjun claimed that he left as soon as he knew about the problem outside.
However, the police have alleged that Arjun ignored their requests to leave, despite being told about the woman’s death and her nine-year-old son’s critical injuries. The manager of the theatre also refused to let police officers approach Arjun until they were forced inside by senior officers.
The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner has released footage showing Arjun remaining in the theatre until nearly midnight, as fans pushed and crowded outside to catch a glimpse of him. The commissioner has warned that bouncers hired by celebrities will be held accountable for their behavior, and is taking legal advice on how to proceed with the case.
The Telangana Director General of Police has also commented on the incident, stating that the safety and lives of people are more important than promoting films.
