Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2” Cracks Records Globally

Indian blockbuster “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” starring Allu Arjun, has shattered box office records with its four-day weekend gross of $92.5 million. The film, directed by Sukumar and the sequel to his 2021 hit “Pushpa: The Rise,” has become the third-highest grossing film globally after Disney’s “Moana 2” ($155.7 million) and Universal’s “Wicked” ($455.5 million).

“Pushpa 2” opened with a worldwide opening day gross of $34.6 million, breaking the Indian opening day record held by S.S. Rajamouli’s “RRR.” The film has earned significant revenue in North America, including $9.3 million over three days, and is currently ranked No. 4 on the North American box office chart.

If it maintains its current momentum, “Pushpa 2” is poised to become the highest Indian grosser of the year, surpassing previous records held by “Kalki 2898 AD” ($141 million) and “Stree 2” ($103 million). The film has also performed well on IMAX screens globally, generating $1.4 million across 16 markets, including a record-breaking $650,000 in India.

The top five films worldwide are currently:
– “Moana 2” ($155.7 million)
– “Wicked” ($455.5 million)
– “Gladiator II” ($368.4 million)
– “Her Story” ($74.8 million)
