OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is making a personal donation of $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration fund, joining other tech companies and executives in improving their relationships with the incoming administration.
Altman stated that he believes Trump will lead America into an era of artificial intelligence and wants to support his efforts to keep the country ahead. He has also expressed little concern about Elon Musk, a rival investor, influencing the new Department of Government Efficiency.
Musk is leading this outside advisory committee which aims to reduce spending and regulations. Altman recently increased investment in OpenAI but faces legal disputes with Musk over company’s founding goals.
