Amanda Knox & Monica Lewinsky Unite for New Drama Series

Amanda Knox, a woman wrongly accused of murder and later exonerated, has teamed up with fellow survivor Monica Lewinsky to produce an eight-part limited series on Hulu. The drama is based on Knox’s memoir and stars Grace Van Patten as the titular character.

Knox, 34, was a 20-year-old exchange student in Italy when she was accused of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher in 2007. She spent nearly four years in prison before her conviction was overturned, but the ordeal left her with lasting emotional scars. Lewinsky, who also faced public scrutiny for her past actions, has become an ally and friend to Knox.

The two women bonded over their shared experiences of being shamed and scrutinized by the media. In 2017, they met at a lecture hall, where Lewinsky invited Knox to discuss her story over tea. This encounter marked a turning point for Knox, who credits Lewinsky with helping her reclaim her narrative and find her voice.

Knox’s story is one of wrongful accusation, prison time, and vindication. The drama series will explore these themes in-depth, tracing Knox’s fight to prove her innocence and regain her freedom. Hulu describes the show as a “story about the eponymous American college student who arrives in Italy for her study abroad only to be wrongfully imprisoned for murder weeks later.”

Knox herself has spoken candidly about the lasting impact of her experience on her life. She has described feeling like she’s lived with a constant terror that people will view everything she does or says in the worst possible light. The drama series aims to humanize Knox’s story and provide a platform for her to share her message.

Lewinsky, who has built a career as an activist, writer, and podcaster since her own high-profile scandal, sees parallels between Knox’s journey and her own. “I could see that there was a pain in her,” Lewinsky said of meeting Knox. “It’s a very unique pain that I recognized.”
