Amazon Closes Clothing Try-Before-You-Buy Program on January 31

Amazon is discontinuing its “Try Before You Buy” program, a service that allowed customers to try up to six clothing items for free before deciding whether to keep them. The program will be unavailable after January 31.

Launched over six years ago, Try Before You Buy was a competitor to Stitch Fix, which has also faced challenges in recent years. Unlike Stitch Fix, Try Before You Buy items were selected by customers themselves.

Amazon’s decision to end the service comes as part of a cost-cutting effort under new CEO Andy Jassy. The company has also eliminated other services and laid off tens of thousands of employees.

Customers will still have access to Amazon’s full clothing options on its website, and the company advises users to shop in the Amazon Fashion section for more choices.
