Amazon is introducing three new accessibility updates across its Fire TV and other products, aiming to make technology more inclusive for people with disabilities worldwide. The company’s ongoing commitment to developing technology that makes life easier for everyone will delight customers with these new features.
The first update, Dual Audio, allows users with hearing aids compatible with the ASHA protocol to stream content simultaneously with friends and family using two different audio outputs. This feature is available on the Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series through a free software update and can be enabled by visiting Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Aids → Output Mode → Dual Audio.
Fire TV will also expand its ASHA support globally, now enabling customers with Widex Moment BTE and RIC hearing aids to stream sound directly from ASHA-enabled devices. To pair compatible hearing aids, customers can visit Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Aids → Add Hearing Aids on their Fire TV device.
Additionally, Amazon has introduced new tactile-marked QR codes globally in select device packaging, making it easier for blind or low-vision customers to quickly scan and access setup instructions and troubleshooting topics. These QR codes include raised UV dots to improve discoverability.
Amazon’s commitment to accessibility is part of its broader mission to make life easier for everyone. The company provides resources and information on accessibility features across its devices and services, making it more accessible for people with disabilities.
