Amazon’s flagship Fire TV Omni Mini LED TV series has just received a significant upgrade in accessibility features, enabling the “Dual Audio” feature. This innovative feature allows users to stream sound from their hearing aids and through the TV speakers simultaneously, providing an immersive experience for family members watching together.
The new Dual Audio feature uses the Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) protocol, which is already supported by a variety of Fire TV devices. However, this upgrade makes it exclusive to the Fire TV Omni Mini LED TV series, marking its first appearance on Amazon devices.
To enable Dual Audio, users will need to install a software update and pair their compatible hearing aid with the TV. Once set up, users can switch between audio streaming through the hearing aid and the TV speakers using quick settings. This feature is not only convenient but also enhances the overall viewing experience for those who wear hearing aids.
In addition to this new accessibility feature, Amazon has expanded support for more types of hearing aids on its Fire TV family of devices. Widex Moment Behind-The-Ear (BTE) and Receiver-In-Canal (RIC) aids are now compatible with ASHA-enabled Fire TV devices.
Amazon is also introducing a raised QR code in select device packaging to provide easy access to setup guides and support documents for customers with low vision or blindness. This innovative approach aims to make Amazon’s products more accessible and user-friendly for all users.
The Dual Audio feature will start rolling out to the Fire TV Omni Mini LED TV series in the coming weeks, and it is available on select devices including the Echo Spot, Echo Show 15, and Echo Show 21. With this upgrade, Amazon continues to demonstrate its commitment to making technology more accessible and inclusive for all users.
