Amazon MGM Studios Set to Bring New 007 to Life

Amazon MGM Studios is making a major push on the James Bond franchise, with producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman leading the charge in London. The duo has been brought in by global marketing chief Sue Kroll and head of film, streaming and theatrical Courtenay Valenti to helm the next 007 installment.

Valenti described Pascal and Heyman as “filmmaking legends” and praised their partnership, saying they will bring a “fresh, exhilarating new chapter” to audiences worldwide. The producers’ involvement marks a significant step forward for Amazon MGM Studios, which recently acquired the studio for $8.5 billion in 2022.

As part of the deal, Amazon paid an additional $1 billion to gain creative control of the franchise. A joint venture with longtime Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli now houses the intellectual property rights, with both parties remaining co-owners.

The search for the new James Bond remains a pressing question. Despite years of speculation, no updates have been forthcoming – until now. With Amazon MGM’s debut at CinemaCon, the studio is ramping up its theatrical slate to 16 films in 2027 and building out a global distribution arm.

While speculating on casting choices may be premature, Amazon has reportedly secured Henry Cavill as the frontrunner for Bond. However, the storyline must be developed first before any speculation can begin.
