Amazon Prime Day, which took place from July 8-11, has shattered sales records, exceeding $24.1 billion in online spending across the US. The four-day event, twice as long as previous Prime Days, far surpassed expectations, setting a new benchmark for summer shopping.
According to Adobe Analytics, this year’s Prime Day spent more than two Black Fridays combined, with estimated sales totaling over $10.8 billion during the 2024 holiday shopping season. Amazon attributed the success to its extended event, delivering incredible savings to members through millions of deals.
The online retailer reported record-breaking sales across its entire catalog, driven by high demand for everyday essentials and popular products. Independent sellers also saw significant gains, with some reporting a 250% increase in sales compared to average daily sales in June.
Key categories that performed well during Prime Day included kids’ apparel, home security products, school supplies, refrigerators & freezers, games, headphones & speakers, car seats, luggage, vacuum cleaners, power tools, computers, smartphone accessories, and storage furniture. Notably, most shoppers (53.2%) made purchases on mobile devices, accounting for $12.8 billion of the spending.
Despite economic uncertainties driven by President Donald Trump’s tariff strategy and flagging consumer confidence, Amazon Prime Day 2025 demonstrated resilience, with many consumers taking advantage of deals on essential items.
