Amazon Sued Over Alleged Deceptive Delivery Practices in DC

Amazon has been accused of deceiving Prime members in two Washington, DC zip codes by outsourcing fast delivery services to slower companies like UPS and the Postal Service. The DC Attorney General claims that about 48,000 customers are receiving fewer benefits than they paid for, despite paying an extra $14.99 a month or $139 a year.

Amazon altered its delivery services in the affected areas due to concerns over driver safety, according to the company. However, the AG alleges that Amazon misled customers by claiming the slower delivery times were coincidental.

The lawsuit seeks to stop Amazon’s allegedly deceptive behavior and collect civil penalties, restitution, and damages. The Attorney General argues that while Amazon can protect its workers through operational changes, it cannot deceive customers in the process.
