Amazon Tells Employees to Return to Office 5 Days a Week

Amazon has ordered its corporate employees to return to working in the company’s offices five days a week, starting in January. According to CEO Andy Jassy, this shift is aimed at improving collaboration among team members.

However, experts warn that remote work can hinder successful collaboration, particularly for teams that haven’t worked together before or when managers don’t facilitate initial interactions.

Liz Lyons, an associate professor of management, notes that employers often fail to adapt their managerial approaches to remote and hybrid work. This can lead to a shift in blame from employers to workers, missing out on potential cost benefits.

As the labor market continues to evolve, some experts see this move as a missed opportunity for employers to adopt flexible solutions.
